Ownership of the Rebel 450 has gone over to my good friend Chevy. (Yes,
that's really his legal name) I will be helping him turn the 450 into a very
custom street cruiser.
First things first, we decided to chop the cones off the exhaust and make it louder than all hell. First, we took a sawsall, 5 metal cutting blades and half a quart of gear oil to the spot where the exhaust starts to taper smaller. Once that section was chopped off, we drilled out the weld spots and pried the first baffle out of the way. After a test ride, we weren't yet happy with the sound of the bike, so we took a huge circular bit and a hammer drill to the last baffle way down in the pipe. After a lot of noise and frustration, there was practically nothing left in the pipes! The rebel is now louder than Frankie's 01 Magna with Jardine Drags! Once we have time, we'll be inserting a new inner pipe into the Rebel's "mufflers" to improve the sound. We also plan on slash-cutting the pipes for a little more style. |
