Mechanical Tach on a 450 { |
|
Chopdoc says (in regards to 250's):
If you want a mechanical tach that can be done also. I did a Rebel with mechanical tach, the boss for the tach drive is located on the right front of the motor. The drive is off the oil pump. The earlier Hondas on which the design is based have the drive (I believe we got ours from a 71 SL125). Just drill out the boss, machine to fit the drive and mount. For the electric ones check www.raskcycle.com, they carry tons of stuff for Triumph twins and the electric tachs would work fine. It is basically a bolt-on and wire up installation and very easy. They are, however, inherently less accurate and reliable than the mechanical type so if your RPMs are critical go with mechanical. In general the electronic ones will be fine for the vast majority of street bikes. |
