So it's been a while since I've posted anything about the motor. It's been split apart, sitting around for months. I'm finally getting close to doing some real work on it. The heads: There are a lot of valve guides that are wasted. Some are worse than others, but all in all there are a few cylinders that are just wasted. Painting: I want to paint the motor myself (I bought a big ass air compressor and have both a regular spray gun and a detailing gun)... At this point I think I'm going to go with a black engine paint. I'd like to find a clearcoat that can stand up to the engine temperatures. Here's a link with some info on painting aluminum engines.
